About Us

History

In 1922, a young mechanically-minded farmer by the name of Reginald Thatcher started tinkering with tractor parts in his barn. He had a dream to build farm equipment that was more affordable, better made and easily serviced. Tennessee Agriculture and Tractor Equipment (TATE) was born. Our founder started by building his first two tractors, Marie and Janice. He kept Marie for himself, and sold Janice down the road for half the cost of his competitors. Word quickly spread, and soon R. Thatcher was hiring the area’s best farm hands so he could build his tractors full-time. What started in his small rural community outside Hartsville soon expanded to serve the county, and eventually the far reaches of tobacco country. TATE serviced the needs of its farm cliental with a smile and a handshake for three quarters of a century.

In 2001, Reginald’s great-grandchild Kyle Thatcher took command of the company. His dream: to carry those same company ideals into the the 21st Century of American manufacturing. Tate® Fabrication was born. We guarantee to keep the promises of unparalleled quality and dedication.
